STUDENT EXCHANGE VISITS

SWEDEN – SUNDSVALLS GYMNASIUM HEDBERGSKA

ACTIVITY TITLE:ENVIRONMENT : POLUTION OF THE SEA

STARTING PERIOD: 01.2019

DURATION: 6 DAYS

WORKING DAY 1 The first day we will start up with a welcoming ceremony and teambuilding activitie,the programme will be presented, the objectivs of the meeting will be clarified. Thereafter each country will do their presentations, on how the main topic, connects to similar problems in their home countries, and what actions has been undertaken. Politicians, and key persons connected to environmental issues will be invited . In the last part students will be divided into smaller groups, working on research questions concerning the main topic. One teacher will supervise each group.

WORKING DAY 2 The students’ next step in the projected is to start researching. They will investigate the local area, and find people to interview. In Sundsvall we will visit it’s univerity, which has 45 different programs. 10 are linked to the environment. We will receive lectures and meet experts in environmental technology and development. This is important as it will provide the students deeper knowledge through the expertise. They will also visit the sea side to see the problem themselves. Local specialists will be in charge of that part. They will process their compiled results and prepare a presentation. When all groups are done, the participants will present their result to the others and at the end of the day the whole group works on a common document, summarizing all findings, conclusions and possible actions.

WORKING DAY 3 Now they start focusing on possible solutions (brainstorm) and the total group narrows down the options to a list of 2/3 achievable, feasible suggestions to solve the main problem. The second part of this day will be the preparation for the closing event. The students will work on three challenges:

(1) how do we want to present the result of our research

(2) People to invite

(3) how do we actually (in terms of form, activities) organize the event.

WORKING DAY 4 Today students and their supervisor will design their final presentation. Depending on what kind of action will be undertaken the final event will take place. This could be a protest demonstration, a lecture at the city council etc. Everyone will prepare, carrying out and ending this event. Key persons will be invited to this final event.

Besides the working and travel days the participating students and teachers will have one family day and one excursion day ( Sundsvall and its area). Each family hosting a student will be in charge of the planning of this day. During the week, students will be given the opportunity to attend to lessons, for example, English, Swedish, natural science. And school activities will be integrated, since many teachers will participate in the program.

 

GREECE –  7 GEL HERAKLION CRETE

ACTIVITY TITLE: IMMIGRATION: INTEGRATION OF REFUGEES

STARTING PERIOD: 03.2019

DURATION: 6 DAYS

WORKING DAY 1 Welcoming and teambuilding activities. Then, we introduce the LTT meeting programme and we determine the goals of the meeting with everyone. Our guests students present their pitches on the topic (integration of immigrants and refugees). They will present similar problems in their own countries and the way they cope and deal with them. Then, we will work in international groups to formulate research questions.

WORKING DAY 2 This is the research day. The multinational groups of students will improve their research questions. In order to take answers to the given topic they are going to study via litterature, to research in the area, to interview with local people – civil and municipal officials and servants, local institutions involved to the problem. At the end the whole group work on summarizing and documenting the results. To be more specific we will visit: City Hall, Region of Crete. (Bureau of Asylum for refugees, an non government organization at Heraklion, which handles the matter of immigration and social net of solidarity at Heraklion, where we are going to talk with volunteers and refugees.

WORKING DAY 3 Now that the results of the research are shared, everybody knows the problem. The subgroups are going to think of possible solutions (brainstorm) and the total group narrows down the options to a list of 2 or 3 achievable, feasible suggestions for solving the main problem. The second part of this day is spent on the preparation for the closing event.The students are working on three challenges:

(1) How do we want to present the research results?

(2) Who is going to be invited and

(3) How do we actually (in terms of form, activities) organize the event? At the end of the day the main structure should be settled.

WORKING DAY 4 In the morning the students work on and finish the final presentations. In the afternoon and/or evening the final event will take place. Depending on the choices the students make, this could be a protest demonstration, a lecture at the city council or an information fair. All the students and teachers take their role in preparing, carrying out and ending this event.

We will have a family day and one excursion day. The programme of the family day (in the weekend) is to be filled in by each host family. The excursion day is organised by the host school and contains for Greece a trip to an archaeological site. This will integrate with school activities, as teachers from different subjects ( History, Economics, Physics, English, Maths) will participate in the program. Also, visiting students will join some regular classes. Last but not least, many students and teachers will be invited to the final event.

THE NETHERLANDS – BISSCHOPPELIJK COLLEGE BROEKHIN ROERMOND

ACTIVITY TITLE: SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INEQUALITY – LIFE IN A DISADVANTAGED NEIGHBORHOOD

STARTING PERIOD: 11.2019

DURATION: 6 DAYS

WORKING DAY 1 On the first working day, after the welcoming ceremonies, the students and teachers get to know each other through some teambuilding activities. Then the programme is introduced and appointments are being made. The goals of this LTT-meeting are being determined with the participating students. The most important part of this first day consists of the pitches from the guest students about how the main topic of this week (quality of life in a disadvantaged neighborhood) connects to similar problems in their home countries and how the foreign countries cope with these issues. The last part of the day the students will work on formulating some research questions concerning the main topic of this week (the problem the host country is dealing with).

WORKING DAY 2 The second day is the research day. The groups ellaborate on their research questions (improvement and determination) and actually seek answers to the questions (via literature study, field research in the particular neighborhoud, interviews with local experts:social workers, civil servants, municipal officials, architects, inhabitants . At the end of the day the results are presented to each other and the total group works on an summarizing document.

The subgroups are going to think of possible solutions (brainstorm) and then the total group narrows down the options to a list of two or three achievable, feasible suggestions for solving the main problem. The excursion day is organised by the host school and contains for the Netherlands a trip to Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum, tour, and a cruise on the canals). This will integrate with school activities, as teachers from different subjects ( fe geography, history, economics, English) will participate in the program. Also, visiting students will join some regular classes. Last bu not least, during the final event many students and teachers will be invited.

 

BULGARIA – FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL “ROMAIN ROLLAND”-STARA ZAGORA

ACTIVITY TITLE: FOOD ETHICS – FOODWASTE

STARTING PERIOD: 04.2020

DURATION: 6 DAYS

WORKING DAY 1 Welcoming and teambuilding activities, we introduce the LTT meeting programme and highlight key points and tasks. What follows is the pitches of the visiting students on Food Waste.They present what was found out and possible solutions in their own countries. After that the students work in international groups to formulate research questions on the problem of food waste.

WORKING DAY 2 The groups improve their research questions while already seeking for the answers. In order to achieve the goals of this project and complete a thorough research and analysis, we visit some specific places. First of all, the students will visit the Municipality and the Local Food and Health Agency to research and discuss the problem in legal terms with the local governing organisations. Also, they will visit local catering companies and supermarkets to find out about food waste they produce and throw away. Finally, the students will meet with representatives from companies/ institutions/ NGOs who might be in need of that food waste. These will be the town zoo, Green Balkans – an NGO residing in Stara Zagora who deal with animal rescue and preservation, and local animal farms. Also we visit Trakia University in Stara Zagora as it has an agricultural department.

WORKING DAY 3 Now that the results of the research are shared, everybody knows the ins and outs of the problem.
